Carl W. Heindl

Name, age - Carl William W. Heindl, 28.
Where are you from?- Toronto, Canada.
Main activity - Photographer/Designer.
Your favourite cam – I'd have to say I am technically facinated with most folding cameras just purly on a human ingenuity standpoint. The Polaroid SX-70 for sure. Most cameras have their own unique charm.
Why do you shoot? - To record what I saw. To remember. Or simply just because I enjoy it and what it does to your perception.
Influences - to name a few Lina Scheynius, Jeff Wall, Ansel Adams, Man Ray.
A little about you - An overly ambitious, disillusioned graphic designer trying to find time to continue all my personal work and still sleep a little.
Share your own projects - Eroder.com, FOES.com, Eroder at Behance.net, The Five Deer, Flickr. More stuff always on the way, umm just did a pretty good mens editorial for CONTRA magazine, issue #007/p.29-39 - "Morning After".

We love Carl's numphs for their spontaneous look. It's like you just catch them out of the corner of your eye and find a filled with charm scene.

Krysta-Lee. I think this was after we'd wrapped up my balloon shoot out in the park for DJ/Producer Sydney Blu. Krysta-Lee and a few other friends assisted me. It was like -15°C and my initial idea was to shoot Sydney outside, with her breath showing on a dark field of baloons. It was a hard shoot. We had 3 costume changes and one of us had to stay at the park to guard the setup in the cold. By the end of it my flashes were all misfiring and I couldn't feel my fingers or toes. We all hit the booze pretty hard at my house afterwards, with the rest of the balloons.

This was a warm-up shot of Azurée getting ready for our shoot with some hair help from her friend. I liked her big big mirror, I remember hoping the flash would concel my position a bit, I liked her angular ceiling as well in the shot.

I was actually DJing behind the booth when I took that, just a fun little local night. That's Azurée and Mel in some sort of drunken, preternatural dancing courship ceremony.

That's Krysta-Lee again, part of a just-for-fun photoshoot on my roof. She was amazing, crawling all over the little wall up there, hanging upside down over it. Previously she'd helped me in my Tent Rippers series.

That's Val, last summer. We were hanging out front of a Mc Donalds I nabbed that shot.
